Testing -
The Erichsen Test
has been developed to test the formability of deep drawing steels.
measured values are the force and the height of the deformation the material breaks.
Missing a better method to test seams in production, the Erichsen Test is also used for testing seams of Tailored Blanks.
Criteria for the quality of the welded seam are the location and characteristic of the break.
The height of the deformation and the ratio between the height of unwelded and the welded blank are not criteria for the weld quality. They only show the regularity (evenness) of the process.
